В статье рассматриваются моральные основания практики преднаказания, наказания за преступление до момента его совершения. Вопреки интуиции, нет ничего неправильного в том, чтобы наказать кого-либо до того, как он совершит преступление, если только можно было знать точно либо быть уверенным вне всяких разумных сомнений, что он намеревается и действительно совершит в будущем данное преступление.

The article examines the moral groundings of the prepunishment practice, punishment for a crime before the crime is committed. Contrary to intuitions, there would not be anything wrong with punishing someone before he committed a crime, if only we could know exactly or be sure beyond reasonable doubt that he intended to and would in fact commit it.
